Lincolnshire-based Mortons Print was once again named Regional Printer of the Year at the prestigious UK ‘newsawards’ 2021 held in London on November 11, 2021.
In what is always a fiercely fought category, the judges’ mission was to find consistent and fault-free quality across a number of different newspaper publications. The quality of submissions was exceptionally high; however it was Mortons’ diverse entry – Cage & Aviary Birds, Driffield & Wold Weekly, The Moorlander and The Teesdale Mercury – which wowed many of the judges with stunning printing to the highest of standards on a range of paper stocks.
Steve Wickwar, print director of Mortons Media Group Ltd, parent company of Mortons Print, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that at Mortons Print & Mailing was able to secure first place in this prestigious award category. The team prides itself on the consistent quality and high standards of work which reflect in this year’s awards. More than ever this has been a real team effort, from the engineers who look after the machines right through the production processes involving Pre-Press, Press, Post-Press, Mailing staff and our managers who are all involved. Everybody at Mortons Print & Mailing plays their part.”
Cage & Aviary Birds won the Niche Market Newspaper of the Year category, another fantastic accolade for Mortons. Because of the large interest within this category it is always a tough section to judge, with an extensive range of contenders taking part. Production processes and values are assessed and discussed by judges, along with how well each title served its market. Comments regarding the publication included: “Striking images that were so well produced and printed, several judges thought some of the birds were so realistic they were about to fly off the pages.”
The awards are a credit to Mortons and the high level of quality print, finishing and fulfilment the company provides.
